I am Elizabeth Proctor, widow of John Proctor and mother to two children. Reverend Samuel Parris is the Revered of the local church I attend on occasion. The recent events in Salem of the supposed outbreak of witchcraft in the community has left many family heartbroken because of the lies believed in this court. The unjust punishment no, mass murder. I will not blink at this brutality which is due to this man’s carelessness. As a mother, I fathom the abundant responsibility that is required once a child is born, children demand constant care and supervision. Parris remarked “I saw Tituba waving her arms over the fire when I came on you. And I heard gibberish coming from her mouth. She was swaying like a dumb beast over that fire!/ I saw a dress lying on the grass. And I thought I saw - someone running through the trees!” ¹. Innocent, good hearted, Godly people have been sent to hang because of this man who decided to be a child and remain ambivlious. All these good people he immediately thought ill because his niece and daughter claimed they saw them with the devil. Abigail is a notorious and canny child who said one word and he immediately believed her even though she had shown pretense before. But let me remind the court that it was Abigail, Betty, Marry Waren and a few other girls who were seen dancing in the forest conjuring spirits. Never once had my husband gone to the forest or anywhere to conjure any spirits neither Goody Nurse or any other who now lies in the dirt. If Reverend Parris and the court had asked a question or gandered into these girls past never would they believe the lies they had been feed. Also as everyone here can fathom an innocent person would never run away, they have no need to. Abigail did and yet no one thought the victims innocent they continued to believe Abigail was open
