Are Schools Doing Enough to Stop Bullying?
Bullying happens a lot nowadays, especially in schools. Students are always teasing and making fun of one another. Also, they say bad words about each other. This actually causes many problems in all schools. Somehow, I think all schools should get involved into stopping the bullying for two main reasons.
First, schools should get involved in stopping bullying in order to prevent suicide cases. In this article, “Do Anti-Harassment Laws Violate Student’ rights?” Billiter argues that all schools should have this law and it is definitely not violating any of the students’ rights. However, I think it will not be so hard if we try to prevent it all the times. Bullying not only causes shooting but it might also make some students want to drop out from school at an early age. For example, according to David Hosansky’s article, there was a nine year old boy who used to be bullied by his classmates. He wanted to drop out of school and kept telling his parents he did not want to go to school. His parents had a hard time trying to figure out why he did not want to go to school. As David Hosansky says, the boy’s parents did not know the reason why he did not want to go to school until they asked him what was going on. Then, he told his parents how his classmates made fun of him by calling him stupid. As the author explains, as soon as his parents found out the reason, they decided to go and talk to the teacher and tell her to ask all students to stop bullying each other. Also, she warned them that there would be a suspension from school for two weeks for anybody who made fun of others. This was an awesome idea and bullying completely stopped after the teacher told the students that there would be consequences for those who tried to bully
