Family Ties Make Us Rise Like the phoenix rising from the ashes, we can ascend beyond our surroundings to greater heights than ever imagined. The mythical creature is a symbol that represents rebirth, hope, and freedom. The legendary bird has inspired many individuals to focus on what is to come, and to look forward to the future. Aura Imbarus has enlightened us with her own story of innovation and motivation in her book titled, Out of the Transylvania Night. Her book, along with other works produced by numerous writers provides insight into the power and necessity of the family. She was also determined to be reborn like the mythical phoenix. The goals and dreams that she had throughout her life were not simply going to die there in her hometown of Sibiu. Her ambition drove her to do more with her life and ultimately arrive at her fateful destination with palm trees, which would not prove to be a simple task. The fact that she had her grandparents’ spiritual support and the physical support of her parents, she was able to achieve her aspirations. Aura illustrates, “Mom, these are our family’s heirlooms. I Can’t take these with me! They belong here. I can’t just uproot them. I cannot…” “Aura, I talked to your dad.” Dad was looking on from the front seat. Shortly before this dialogue occurred, many words were exchanged that may have proved to show that her parents did not support her decision to leave Sibiu and travel to Los Angeles. Eventually, the love that her parents had for her overshadowed their fears and they gave her their full support. They even gave her the family jewels which contained a lot of sentimental value to the family. The jewels symbolized the legacy of the great Imbarus clan. For her parents to give her these objects, was to show the best attributes that family consists of which are faith, love, support, hope, and
