Anita Roddick once stated “To succeed, you have to believe in something with such a passion that it becomes a reality.” The word “passion” varies on the meaning depending on the people you ask. When people think of the word “passion” they think it describes a person who is heartfelt. That is not always the case. The American Hall of Fame will be giving a “most passionate award” to one lucky recipient this year that best exemplifies this admirable and valuable trait. Rosa Parks will be receiving the most passionate award. This is because she had done an act that had stepped up to segregation and started a revolt to the problem. Rosa Parks grew up in a time when African Americans weren’t able to have civil rights, went through segregation, discrimination, and weren’t the average white person. She had to learn how to survive in the world from trying to exist day to day. She went to sleep as a young girl fearful if her house thinking it might be burned down (“Standing up for freedom”, Achievement.org). Rosa Parks was living in a time of cruelty to those who weren’t the average white person. You couldn’t do anything about your situation and had to learn how to survive by yourself. No one could stand up to it for a long time. Biography.com stated “Her refusal to surrender her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery, Alabama bus spurred a city-wide boycott. The city of Montgomery had no choice but to lift the law requiring segregation on public buses (“Rosa Parks”, Biography.com). One day, she had enough of the cruel segregation and discrimination. She is known for not giving up her seat to the white man and getting taken to jail for her action. She was so passionate about how everyone should have equal civil rights that she care about the consequences but for what she was standing up
