A worried student would be too focused on if what they’re wearing follows those guidelines to really feel comfortable and learn correctly. A strict dress code could also take away from a child’s class time, since most would be sent down to the nurse’s office to change, or even sent home. Someone could miss out on a lesson, and might not properly grasp it when they have to learn what to do away from the teacher. A student being forced to go home could also arise a problem for parents since most can’t leave work unless something is seriously wrong.
Should School Lockers be Mandatory? Are students mature enough to have lockers? Are they able to be responsible to get their materials and get to class on time? Or are students so distrustful that the use of lockers is considered “unsafe”. There are usually three reasons why schools don't have lockers.

" This is a time where teens need to gain confidence and high school would be a good place to do that but the dress codes are preventing it. School Dress codes do not allow students to completely express their individuality. Schools want students to be able to think for themselves and create a sense of who they are, but it is not easy when they are forced to abide by rules that take away from from that. It should be a place of expressing ourselves freely in a learning environment without having to worry about what we wear as an interfering issue. The fact that the school system cares more about the student dress code than their education is an issue in itself. Schools should promote dress code individuality because of religious aspects, mental health, and human experience.
The administration and teachers think the dress code is just fine even if it means that the student will have to miss their classes. The dress code is unfair and females are told that they are distractions for boys and the class. Females are told that they will be a distraction to boys if they wear leggings or if their shoulders can be seen, but has anyone ever heard a boy say “Man those are some nice shoulders!” I never have. Women cannot express themselves as easy because of the restrictions they have on the clothing they can wear.

Dress codes and uniforms have been the center of controversy between student and teachers from the start. Lately students have been saying that dress codes or uniforms repress their ability to express themselves in a school environment. To truly understand how this is such a big issue in the United States, we must know how this started, the positives, and the negatives of school dress codes. Dress codes have been a part of school life since 1969.

Dress code can effect students by telling them that they shouldn’t wear clothes like tank tops, low riding jeans, short shorts, and much more because it will be distracting to students. I understand that schools just want to make sure they have a proper school learning experience, but it is bringing down the student’s self-confidence. Also dress code can often be promoting rape culture. This also promotes sexist behavior that can hurt a young teenager’s self-confidence and mind.
Imagine a teenage girl in a classroom setting who was cited with a dress code violation purely because an adult teacher had the opinion that her skirt was too short. Yet, another male student who was also breaking the dress code did not get dress coded. The decision to cite a violation for one over the other in this situation screams partiality and bias leading to the sexualization of the female student. Situations like this are happening to students, especially female students. All over the world, the dress code is becoming more sexist and based on bias rather than written rules and policies.
Dress codes should always be implemented because they focus students and better prepare learners for endeavors later in life. Teenagers tend to get distracted by short-shorts or tight pants. However, a dress code would prevent such distractions from occurring. Also, a dress code teaches children how to properly dress themselves, which will be a necessary ability later in life. Dress codes also make people uncomfortable, which means they are attentive.
For example, sweatpants are not against dress code but they don’t show professionalism. They are also just students and should be able to live the child life as long as they can. These reasons are why dress codes should be banned. There should be no school dress code because it limits the freedom of expression, targets girls, and they are hard to enforce. Girls should not have to follow extra rules because boys can't control themselves around girls.

As I must bring to your attention that we are only at school to learn and MOST of us could care less about what other people are wearing. I’m not for a “dress code” that does not exist at all because some people do need a little guidance, but I must say I have been dress coded for some pretty ridiculous things. Most dress codes consist of many different things and some are way over the edge.
I believe that dress code is necessary in school because if you don't have at least a small dress code people will not in a polite way of saying it dress for success. The reason i believe that it is needed is that some people can't be trusted to dress right. I can also see why people say it should not be. A dress code may inhibit their expression of their personality. As i said earlier the reason i believe a dress code is necessary is because people can't be trusted to “dress for success”.
Dress code is very common in places such as offices, workplaces, and schools. Having a dress code in offices and workplaces isn’t a problem because it makes the workers dress appropriate and represent the company. Although people can argue that dress code in schools does the same thing as workplaces and offices, there is a lot of controversy. Dress code and uniform policies in schools hasn’t always been a problem, because clothing used to be simple and plain. As time has gone on, numbers have been dramatically increasing.
Having dress codes can also be uncomfortable especially with changes in weather throughout the school year. Most dress codes involve long pants for the boys and skirts for girls. During warm summers it can get real hot wearing long pants and in the winter, the girls would not be comfortable wearing skirts in freezing temperatures. To pay attention in school you need to be comfortable in what you are wearing without distractions. There is also the burden and additional expense to parents with students wearing dress codes for school and the other clothes after school which could double family budgets.
A reason the dress code needs some adjusting is how female clothes are made. Typically female clothes are made by males like Christian Dior, Guccio Gucci, and Michael Kors; just to name a few well known designers. The more fashion icons and role models wear shorter shorts the more the fashion scene appeals and creates clothes like the ones being displayed. The AP English class conducted an experiment out of curiosity, in which they measured the length of their shorts from the top of the knee to the end of the pair of shorts. The measurements were then compared to the stated length in the dress code, which is 4” above the knee.
