In the article, “Position on Dodgeball in Physical Education,” by NASPE, the writers center on using persuasive techniques to support their claim on the topic. To illustrate, the use of credibility is displayed within this text. The text uses an association to display this text. To demonstrate, the text lets the reader know that a debate is occurring, the author states, “Thus, the NASPE would like to reiterate its position about including dodgeball in school physical education programs” (986). This reveals that, the text uses the NASPE as a credible source. It is important to note this because the use of the NASPE helps to support their claim with persuasion - Ethos. In another case, the article displays an association’s opinion again, the writer states, “NASPE believes that dodgeball is not an appropriate activity for K-12” (986). Again, this shows a reliable source of the text. Furthermore, this supports the author’s claim because they are using a trustworthy reference.
