Lonnie Franklin Jr., also known as The “Grim Sleeper,” is a convicted serial killer and is responsible for ten murders and one attempted murder between 1985 and 2007. The killer was given the name “Grim Sleeper,” for his 14-year break from his killings from 1988 to 2002. The killings took place in south Los Angeles, California, where Franklin was born on August 30, 1952. His earliest crime was in 1974, when Franklin was in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany.

During the times of 1972 to 1978, John Wayne Gacy Jr. killed 33 people in the Chicago area. He was known for raping, torturing, then strangling his victims (SC4). Then he would dispose of the bodies by either dumping them into a river or hiding them beneath his house. He wasn't caught until after the murder of his final victim in 1978. Then he became one of the most famous serial killers in American history.

He would pick the females up, drive them to an isolated area, strangle, stab, and shoot them. Dubbed the Valley Intruder or Night Stalker, Ricardo Leyva Munoz Ramirez famously known as Richard Ramirez, struck fear through the bones of many during his serial killing spree in the mid-eighties. Ramirez killed at least fourteen people in his spree while raping and torturing many more. His criminal beginnings turned to violence in June of 1984 with his first known slaying of 79-year-old Jennie Vincow. Vincow was sexually assaulted, stabbed and ultimately killed in her home. Authorities had not yet caught Ramirez after this brutal homicide, therefore he was free to continue his spree on countless more helpless victims.

He was very different from other serial killers he was more of a hitman. A hitman is hired by someone to kill that persons rivals or one who once troubled them. Before he became a killer, he had a record of violence and perverse assault on teens. His wife, Marlynn Gacy, seemed to have condoned his sexual appeal to boys and went as far as to engage in acts with him.

Sadly a young girl, Grace Budd, was one of his victims. He was arrested after a six year hunt for the murder of Grace(Maria). He worked as a handyman and a painter, but made the neighborhood children beat him with a paddle that had 1’½” nails attached to it.
The very first murder he was linked to would have been the first one he would of committed. This murder took place in Santa Barbara on June 4th, 1963. The young victims were couple Robert Domingos and his betrothed Linda Edwards. The couple had decided to participate in their senior ditch day, so they went sunbathing at a beach near Gaviota State Park. When they didn’t return by the next morning, Robert’s father went looking for them.
