Robert burns was born on January 25, 1759 in Alloway, Scotland being known as the best poet and lyricist of all time. He is regarded as a pioneer of the Romantic movement, Robert Burns inspired both socialism and liberalism due to his great intellect and being a pioneer. The romantic era was an artistic, musical, literary, and intellectual movement that originated throughout Europe. Robert Burns writes a book called ‘To a mouse” which talks about the Romantic era, also known as romanticism. It describes the respect of nature, freedom, and use of imagination which romanticism is used as a appreciation of the nature. Like any other poet Robert Burns was not wealthy or high class, he was a poor tenant farmer when he was growing up. Being the eldest out of seven kids he had to work a lot and suffer a lot throughout his childhood.”The move was financially a mistake, and the family had to struggle for eleven years, living in extreme poverty and isolation while laboring constantly”(Bentman, Raymond Pg 2, Boston,1987). His dad spent his whole time working and working which eventually affected him in the future. Robert Burns started working at the age of 12 helping his dad on the farm and it affected his health due to all the intensive work that he had to do. His parents encourage him to read and write books and he liked reading about William Shakespeare and Hamilton.”His father supplied him with theological, historical, and geographical reading”(Bentman,Raymond Pg 17,Boston,1987).His father taught him most of the time when he was growing up. He wanted to dance but his father didn't let him. “Burns desire to attend dancing school. His father opposed it and Burns went anyway” (Bentman, Raymond, Pg 4 Boston,1987). Robert Burns was later sent off to finish his education. When his father died his family was worn out and bankrupt, this affected the way he saw religious and political establishment throughout the country.”This seemed to free him in some way and the next few years became a period of high creative energy, producing poems such as ‘To a Mouse”(Mcintosh,Lain Scottish Poetry Library). His family moved to a nearby town where he continue to write poems and later in the years he met and and encounter a lot of females throughout his life. He married and had affairs with different women. He also had a lot of children and some were illegitimate children. He had a total of 12 children by four different women.
