The Beastie Boys. Need I say more? When most think of the rambunctious rap group from that came straight out of the 1980’s, they think about girls, partying, crude humor and maybe some music in between. Although The Beastie Boys as a group did a few things that had never been done before in music history. Thats pretty incredible considering nobody expected something so revolutionary to come from three middle class white jewish kids from New York.
From 2001 to today, Fall Out Boy has become one of the iconic teenage boy-bands. If you were to start playing it in a room full of females, there’s a 80% chance someone would start screaming. The legacy began in Illinois as a hard-core rock band, where Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, and Joe Trohman (they went through a series of drummers before deciding on Andy Hurley) stood in Joe’s garage fishing for old, battered instruments. There they created their first album, Take This to Your Grave. Next, they produced From Under the Cork Tree, Infinity on High, and the flop of Folie a Deux, before they went on hiatus just to come back three years later and create Save Rock and Roll.

In the 1980’s people were against punk rock musicians, someone once said, "They think we 're devil worshipers here" (Holladay). This reveals that people were against punk rock music since, punk rock musicians were called devil worshipers, and if people enjoy something they won 't insult it. People were against rock music due to it being a different type of music which was not listened to previously and some people did not enjoy modifications. Many people against rock music thought that those who played rock music worshiped the devil since it was considered a sinister type of music.
One of the most critical and successful rock bands of the 1960s, The Rolling Stones, started in London. With genre-setting hits, “The Rolling Stones have done more to define the look, attitude and sound of rock & roll than any other band in the genre's history” (The Rollings Stones Bio). For example, hundreds of millions of albums were sold. They have released 30 studio albums, 18 live albums, and numerous
The Rock and Roll hall of fame isn't restricted to artists classified in the “rock and roll” genre of music, there is many other genre in the rock and roll hall of fame. Most surprising is hip-hop/rap artists. The rock and roll hall of fame needs to add is Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre would be a good person to add because of his work with the popular rock bands; the yardbirds and cream, his solo success, and simply his impact on all music.
The 1990’s was arguably the greatest decade for the music scene. This decade encountered the rise of the best musical artists and bands of all time. The music from this time was highly thought of because most bands were bringing back the rock and roll sound everyone loved from the late 60’s and 70’s. The band that really brought this sound back for generations to come was Nirvana. The band Nirvana wasn 't just considered to be rock and roll, their music could fall under several off branches of rock and that 's what made them the best.
Blink-182 was unique among other bands because the band was interested in writing songs that appealed to their audience and their fans. They never cared to write songs that appealed to adults. The band never really took themselves all that seriously, their lyrics were not very hard to understand and there music could relate to any teeanager. They managed to gain a lot of popularity with their catchy music, and unruly appearance and I think that this is why the band gained so much popularity with youth around the world.
But they weren’t always famous. It took them almost 2 years to get popular! Before they got their big break, they had many temporary members. Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best were both temporary members.
Next came Pop Rock, which included The Beatles. Later came Heavy Metal, including Aerosmith. Now comes your Punk Rock with The Ramones, Velvet Underground, and others. That’s
“In a country in which popular culture is extremely important, there’s nobody more important than The Beatles.” Steven Stark, a friend of The Beatles once said. The Beatles are not only the biggest band of their time, they are one of the biggest bands of all times. The Beatles did not just sing to sing, they sang to give hope to a generation, they set some of the highest standards in popular culture, they changed music forever, and they still manage to affect our generation today.
The Pixies are one of my favorite bands. There songs speak to me in ways that other bands songs can’t. They may not be one of the most well-known bands but they inspired a lot of well-known bands such as Nirvana, U2, Weezer, and many more. I first discovered the pixies after the second time I watched fight club which was earlier this year towards the end of my junior year. The first time I watched fight club I was around 10.
