My research paper is about the Rock Band Led Zeppelin and how they reached their success. I am going to be writing about the information I gathered on the group from various materials. I found an interview with the band members from a re-mastered cd that offered quite a bit of insight to the band and how they started.
Jimmy Page started out working with the Yardbirds but wanted to incorporate acoustic and the blues sounds in a perfect blend. He was looking to put together such a group, and began the search for the people that would be a perfect fit for his new group. His first choices were Steve Marett and Terry Reed. Steve Marett was working on a project and Terry Reed told Jimmie about Robert Plant who was playing at the midland. In 1968 when Jimmy Page recruited him, he recommended John Bonham for the drummer position. Jimmy Page was looking for a powerful drummer but wasn’t prepared for Jon Bonham’s talent.
John Paul Jones actually called him and asked if he was putting together a band. He told him that if possible he would like to be part of it. John Paul Jones grew up with a father that played the piano and encouraged him to play the saxophone. JPJ wanted to play the base and finally his father agreed that he should play the base. Years later JPJ did work as a session musician working with The Rolling Stones, Everly Brothers, Tom Jones, and many more different artists.

The name Led Zeppelin came from Keith Moon who originally was planning on using the name for band that would include Jeff Beck, Jimmy Paige, Nicky Hopkins, John Paul Jones, and Keith Moon.
