In the novel Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, several characters have persevered through injustice, harhip, and extreme racism. One important event was when papa, stacey, and Mr. morrison were going to vicksburg to shop, but on the way back in the storm, the wallaces came, they shot papa in the temple and then got his leg broken when he fell and the wagon rolled over it. But Mr. morrison had great courage and he stood up to the wallaces and scared them off because he used his strength to break one of the wallaces back, and severely hurt the others. Another act of courage or perseverance was when T.J. and stacey got into a fight, he was peerservering because he was threatened and almost badly hurt by one of the wallaces because he was drunk, and or he didn't want the fight to end. To them they thought it was funny.
