Romeo and Juliet is one of the most famous love plays written by William Shakespeare. However, this play ends like most romance plays do not. In the play Romeo and Juliet, two lovers meet at a ball Capulet holds and fall in love. Romeo and Juliet’s families are rivals, which forbids them from seeing each other. Juliet tells Romeo that he will marry her if he truly does love her. At the ball, there was Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin. He did not like Romeo due to the fact Romeo was a Montague. Later on, Tybalt sees Romeo and challenges him to a duel. Romeo declines, and his best friend Mercutio jumps in, leading to Tybalt stabbing him with his sword leading to Mercutio’s death. Juliet realizes she will have to marry Paris, even though she doesn’t want to. Juliet, being sad, goes to Friar Lawrence for his advice, in which he gives Juliet a potion to be asleep, so her family will think she died. Her Father, Capulet says that if she isn’t willing to marry Paris, she will not be able to live under his roof; with Romeo being banished and Juliet forced to marry Paris, Juliet takes a sleeping potion to fake her death. Friar Lawrence tells Friar John to send a letter to Romeo so that Romeo would know the plan, but Friar John can’t send the letter to Romeo. Romeo goes to the Capulet tomb to see if Juliet has indeed died. Romeo sees her body thinking she's dead, then drinks the poison to kill himself. For example, in Act 1, scene 5, Tybalt is mad that Romeo is at the ball because Romeo is a Montague (Shakespeare 1.5 55-60). Tybalt's hatred for Montagues is very high. Tybalt’s hatred for Montagues could eventually lead to problems. For example, in Act 3, scene 1, Tybalt attempts to fight Romeo, and Mercutio jumps in, leading to Tybalt stabbing Mercutio (Shakespeare 3.1 85-130). Tybalt killing Mercutio leads to Romeo killing Tybalt and Romeo getting banished from Verona. Once Romeo is banished from Verona, Juliet can’t be in contact anymore with Romeo, and due to them not being in touch with each other, many mistakes happen and can’t communicate which leads to Romeo and Juliet both dying. If Tybalt didn’t kill Mercutio and held in his hatred for Montagues, Romeo and Juliet would have never
