Who’s To Blame for the Tragedy in Romeo and Juliet?
(Hook). The play Romeo and Juliet is about an age-old feud that ends in tragedy. A young Montague, Romeo, meets the beautiful Capulet, Juliet and they fall in love. After only a few days, they marry. Their plans to run away together grow sour after Romeo kills Juliet's cousin, Tybalt, and is banished from Verona. Juliet's dad then forces her to marry the County Paris. When the pair of star-crossed lovers reach the end of their relationship, they kill themselves. The literary critic, Max Radiclix, explains why he thinks three people are accountable for the tragedy in Romeo and Juliet. In the text, “Who can be blamed for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet?” The author provides a strong argument explaining why he thinks Romeo and Tybalt were at fault for the tragedy in Romeo and Juliet.

We're first introduced to Tybalt when Romeo crashes the Capulet's party. Tybalt doesn't like Romeo from the start and even threatens to kill him. Tybalt is at fault because he killed Mercutio. “There was no reason for Tybalt to kill Mercutio; it was completely unnecessary. Romeo’s rash retaliation for Mercutio’s death caused Romeo to be banished from Verona,” (Radlicz). Mercutio's death set the tragic ending in motion. Enraged by his friend's death, Romeo kills Tybalt to get revenge. If Tybalt controlled his anger and didn't kill Mercutio, Romeo and Juliet would’ve
