Shakespeare indicates that man is neither inherently good or evil, and with the use of Romeo, Tybalt, and Mercutio, he proves that people’s actions can vary, and they can cause something terrible while trying to do something good. It also depends on the person’s point of view and what they think is good and evil.

Whilst Romeo is trying to stop the boys from fighting, he gets in-between Mercutio and Tybalt, allowing Tybalt to stab Mercutio. “I thought all for the best” (3.1.100) He had thought that he was going to stop them from fighting, everyone would end up being safe, and nobody would be persecuted. That would have been good. However, he instead caused the death of one of his closest friends. He then later kills Tybalt, trying to get revenge
