Love and hate are both very powerful emotions that can sometimes take you over.Which one do you feel you lean to more? Romeo and Juliet were children of opposing households. They were supposed to follow the tradition of hating the opposite house, but instead they fell in love. Their love,which was strong only after a few days, led them to their deaths. In “Romeo and Juliet” written by Shakespeare, the themes are very important to the play. They have a tremendous impact when the reader is trying to follow along with these characters. The contrasting themes of Love and Hate are significant to Romeo and Juliets situation throughout the play. Love can manipulate and control a person to take actions that they would not normally do. Tybalt has always felt hate and loathe towards the montagues, especially Romeo. He states, “ Uncle, this is a montague, our foe, a villain that is hither come in spite, to scorn at our solemnity this night.” (1.5.60-62) Tybalt despises the thought of seeing Romeo at their party that they are throwing.He does not want anything to do with him,even seeing him makes him furious. Romeo and Tybalt ended up getting into a sword fight, and because Romeo had so much adrenaline he killed Tyablt even though he did not necessarily want to. Lady Capulet was very enraged by this, and sent off an assassin where Romeo was banished to. For example, “ We will have vengeance for it thou not. Then weep no more. I’ll send to one in Mantua, where that same banished runagate doth live, shall give such an accustomed dram, that he shall soon keep Tybalt company; And then I hope thou wilt be satisfied.” ( 3.5.87-92) She could never forgive him for what he did,unlike Juliet, they loved Tybalt, and they were in a lot of sadness prior to his death. Towards the end when Friar Laurence was helping Juliet make the plans for her fake death, she took a potion, and was to be put into her family tomb where Romeo was then going to save her.
