While there are many different characters in this play, the Nurse is a prominent character shown in most of the play. She works with the Capulets, and most closely Juliet. On the outside, the Nurse seems like an innocent, caring woman that puts her job first before anything else, but you all would be wrong. The Nurse had been a loved and quite useful member of their family, until now.
The nurse is the best character in Romeo and Juliet. She cares the most about Romeo and Juliet. The nurse is the only character that unselfishly cares about Juliet. Romeo cares about her for her physical appearance, her mom doesn’t really know her very well, her dad isn’t a huge part of her life either, and without the nurse, Juliet would be pretty much alone in the world. She also cares about Juliet’s love of Romeo, however, which makes her care about him.
Romeo!”(3.2.42-44) Juliet’s nurse, who helped with many of the pair’s sneaking around, turns her back on Romeo. The nurse urges Juliet to marry Paris. Juliet then loses her only supporter of her relationship with Romeo. She is forced to find support elsewhere.
This goes against what she originally thought. This causes Juliet to be alone because the relationship ended between her and the person closest to her. Without the nurse juliet made poor choices with the Friar. In conclusion, the nurse is one of the major causes of Romeo and Juliet’s
This exchange of information shows that the nurse wants Romeo to know how Juliet feels because she wants them to stay together. Later, when Juliet is convinced that she is in love with Romeo, the nurse tells her she made the wrong choice. She says, “Well, you have made a simple choice; you know how to/ choose a man: Romeo! / ... he is not the flower of courtesy” (40). The nurse is now saying that she thinks Juliet made the wrong choice choosing Romeo and she should have chosen her family's recommendation, Paris.
It also shows that she is like a mother to Juliet, overjoyed and happy for her daughter to have found a man. A second excerpt about how much she cares for Juliet can be found in act three, scene five, when she advises Juliet when speaking about her marriage to Romeo, “I think it best you married the County. O, he’s a lovely gentleman! Romeo’s a dishclout to him,” (3*5*218-220). This explains to the reader that the nurse does not approve of Romeo as she believes that Juliet will not be happy with him, and should instead marry the Count, who will provide for her with ease.
Ocho Apellidos Vascos is a quirky love story between Amaia and Anxton (whose actual name is Rafa). It begins in a Sevillan bar where a Basque woman is out with her friends. She’s very drunk, and has obviously been having a pretty terrible time since her husband-to-be left her with a large sum of debt. An Andalusian man, Rafa, is on stage telling rude jokes about Basque women. The Basque woman, Amaia tells him off.
Throughout the book the nurse brings all of Juliet’s messages and delivers them to Romeo acting as a messenger for the two. “Good heart, and i’ faith I will tell her as much. Lord, Lord! She will be a joyful woman” (II. iv. 154-155).
The Nurse encourages the relationship between Romeo and Juliet while fully knowing that they can’t be together. In Act 2, Scene 5, it said "Then hie you hence to Friar Laurence' cell. / There stays a husband to make you a wife. " This quote reveals that the Nurse is short-sighted . She doesn’t think about the long-term consequences of her actions.
The nurse’s willingness to go along with the schemes that Romeo and Juliet were involved with was dangerous. While doing so isn’t inherently dangerous, in the long-term allowing Romeo and Juliet to advance their relationship in part got them killed. Furthermore, Nurse could have possibly talked Juliet out of having a relationship with Romeo. Juliet would trust her opinion, and the argument that a Montague and Capulet can’t mix is quite strong. Along with that, Nurse eventually tries to do exactly that, but it is too late and it just upsets Juliet without solving anything.
(Shakespeare 710). The nurse cares more for Juliet and would do anything for Juliet because she raised her like her own child since she was an infant. Lady Capulet uses Juliet as a tool to look good for the Capulet
In the text the nurse says “Then, since the case so stands as now it doth, I think it best you married with the county.” (Shakespeare 90). This is one of the biggest hits to Juliet because
She can not do anything about it as Romeo is Juliet 's husband now. So to stop seeing Juliet cry the Nurse goes out to find Romeo to her. Juliet not appreciating all the things her Nurse did for, for example keeping a secret
Lastly, Shakespeare uses Romeo and Juliet to show true love. Nurse shows parental love to Juliet throughout the play. Despite being a servant to the Capulet household, she has a role equivalent to that of Juliet’s mothers and regards Juliet as her own. Even with the fact that Nurse is not the birth mother of Juliet, she still treats Juliet like a daughter. Nurse cares about Juliet and wants her to be happy and find success.”
The betrayal of the nurse by not staying loyal to Juliet in her most desperate time of need caused Juliet to lose faith in her and keep her thoughts a secret.” I think it's best you marry county oh he’s a lovely gentleman, Romeo’s a dishcloth to him”. Hence, instead of staying loyal to Juliet and helping her get out of a marriage the nurse goes against her and insults her husband, this act of disloyalty is what provokes Juliet to keep her plans a secret if the plans were not secret the death could have been avoided. To conclude throughout Shakespeare’s play “Romeo and Juliet”.
