Many people have immature feuds between each other. They don’t like each other for no apparent reason, and don’t want to change. This is comparable to The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Many people think they know the whole story, but never realized there was a deeper meaning. Who is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? The people who are responsible for the deaths are The Capulets, and the Montagues due to the childish feud the families impose on each other. The Capulet family are the main characters responsible for the suicides, due to resenting Juliet for not marrying Paris. Her father was calling Juliet names and teasing/yelling at her for not wanting to marry Paris. On page 62-63, Juliet says that “He shall not make me there a joyful bride…I pray you, tell my lord and father, madam, I will not marry yet…Capulet: Hang thee young baggage! Disobedient wretch!...” This excerpt reinforces the conflict between Juliet and her family because she doesn’t wish to marry Paris. Mercutio originally started the fight that day with Tybalt, and from then it went south. Romeo and Mercutio were best friends, so after Tybalt slays Mercutio, Romeo felt the need to go and slain Tybalt himself. He follows through, and gets exiled from the city of Verona. On page 48, Romeo gets exiled after Montague says “Not Romeo, Prince, he was Mercutio’s friend; His fault concludes but what the law should end. The life of Tybalt. Prince: And for that offence we do exile him hence.” This quote explains how Romeo no longer can be in Verona, or see Juliet.
