Ruby Bridges Ruby Bridges was born September 8th 1954. And was born in the city New Orleans. When Ruby was just six years old, a court sent a test to for the black students to take. If the children passed the test, they would attend an all white school. Ruby was one of the children to pass the test and was gonna attend the William Frantz Elementary School. Ruby Bridges is a hero because of her braveness, risk taking, and toughness.
“Don’t Follow the path, go where there is no path, and start one.” -Ruby Bridges.
Ruby was a very brave child because she had always kept her head up when the white people would stand outside the school holding signs and saying they wanted to hurt her. Ruby didn’t care what other people said, or did. All she wanted to do was make her family and friends proud, and learn her best. When white people would carry a black doll in a coffin, Ruby would get a little scared, but she got over it, and still went to school. One time, even a woman said she would choke her with her scarf. Also, when she was on her way to school, she would always pray for god to forgive those people, but one day when she forgot to pray, she stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, between her and the people, she just started praying in front of them, and some people even looked like they were prepared to go and kill her right at that moment. Before Ruby started school, people were acting so violent, that the US Government had to send marshals to walk with Ruby to and from school. Like I told you before, Ruby had to take a test to see if she was able to go to the school.
