I believe that the SDA official statement plays an important role in pursuing the fight against domestic violence and brings out some key ideas that helps illuminate the issue. Not only does the concepts in the statement provide some valid points it helps with realistic solutions to the problem. Domestic violence is serious with some 4000 woman dying each year as a result , bearing in mind that while only a number it is real woman , mothers and wives to real families. Having researched from a wide range of resources i have found that domestic violence is not simply just an act but an attitude as well as a cycle that many find hard to break of. The cycle of the abuser influencing the abused to replace them , making this problem not only go unnoticed but growing. While i find it good that the SDA church has recognised the issue and provided some solutions i feel like it could cover some more understanding as to when to leave and when to stay and fix the issue.As Well as having some good attitudes for the victim i feel it is important to address the abuser as well as they are a vital component of stopping the issue at its roots. It also excludes spiritual abuse and financial abuse which are just as important as any form. I also think that scripture should be used more such as the story in 1 Samuel where there is an example of domestic violence that is relevant and has many lessons to be drawn out. On a local level of the church this statement helps provide a structure to which to build regarding domestic violence and the fight to eradicate it.And as global it sends a message to the rest of society letting them know that we as a church will not stand for domestic violence and neither does
