The Safe Patient Handling Act (A.1370/S.2470)
The bill was introduced by a Chair of the Subcommittee on Workplace Safety, Assemblyman Rory Lancman, and Senator George Maziarz, the sponsor the Safe Patient Handling Act (A.1370/S.2470). This bill would (1) create a safe patient handling taskforce, (2) direct the New York State Department of Health to establish a safe patient handling policy, and (3) require each covered healthcare facility to write and execute a plan that coincides with that policy. The Subcommittee on Workplace Safety considers passing the bill a top priority for the 2011-2012 legislative sessions.
