Salaries in Professional Sports The 1800’s was the time where women were able to work besides being a housewife. However, women were not given the same salary as men. Though people say that they were paid less because it was is due to lack of education. As years go by as women worked the change towards salary has stayed the same. As the work force kept ripping the women off over their income; women put up a fight for equal rights. It may have become equal for working labor, but not to athletics. Until this day women do not have the same salary as men when it comes towards sports. Women are paid with a lower salary in professional sports. A question is, if people say our society does not discriminate anymore, then why do we not have equal pay towards athletics? What makes men so special compared to women? In the 1900’s and our current year have shown that women should be able to have an equal salary as men when it comes to the professional sports.
The year of 1943 began the first professional All-American Girls Baseball League. The first team to come together was called the Bloomer Girls. This started when the men were sent away to the Second World War. The baseball organization thought if they were not going to have enough men to play the sport of baseball it would have collapsed.

Determining whether equality is going to be in professional sports will only come in the matter of time. It is something all women have to help each other out in. After taking a poll on the King’s College campus 85% of men I have asked mentioned that women should not have an equal pay as man do in the professional athletics. This shows that others do not believe that women should have the same benefits as men. Women put in just a much hard work as men. Salary should be based on the amount of years you have been a part of an organization, and not about what gender people are. Men are not as competitive as women.
