Should gay couples be allowed to adopt? Well, there’s has always been a controversy on why gays should be allowed to adopt. As reported from LBGT Adoption Statistics “on the 2000 Census, about 65,000 children lived with same sex parents. In 2012, 110,000 live with gay parents. Of the total amount of children in U.S. households, less than 1% live with same-sex parents. Therefore, children with same-sex parents are still far and away a minority.” And the numbers will increase, as the same sex adoption becomes more accepting of the fact that gays are going to be able to be parents to these children. In fact, being raised by the same sex parents don't differ from any other child in terms of emotional functioning, gender role behavior,behavior adjustments, or gender identity. For example, teenagers with same sex parents are more connected at school. Another study described, that children in same sex marriages are more likely to talk about more emotional difficult topics than other children, and they are also known as stronger, tolerant, and understanding. The same discussions that many hetrosexual parents have when they are deciding to have children also, face many of the same sex parents problems including money, responsibilities, and time of parenthood. Same sex parenting tasks are done the same as hetrosexual parents, such as providing the child with appropriate structure, while also being loving and respectful, setting limits for the child, teaching them to be honest and open, taking them to extracurricular activities after school. Obviously some diffrences do occur, for example for the child to adapt and get used to their new home, their new parents, their new school, and friends; for everything to run smoothly and their won't be any
