The following assessment evaluates the prevalence of tuberculosis in the Asian American population in San Francisco. Asian Americans are defined as Americans who are of Asian descent. In the United States, San Francisco contains one of the largest concentration of the Asian communities outside of Asia. Unfortunately, Asian Americans in San Francisco have the highest prevalence of tuberculosis compared to all other ethnicities and races. A majority of these cases are from foreign-born individuals. Though there has been various interventions conducted by the city in the past to reduce the prevalence of tuberculosis in the community, much more can be done to address the increasing prevalence of tuberculosis by tackling other interconnected factors, such as comorbid conditions and environmental influences. These transportation systems allows residents and visitors to be able to access the various parks throughout the city. Popular destinations include the Golden Gate Park in the Richmond and Sunset District, as well as the Presidio national park (San Francisco Department of Parks and Recreation, 2015). A key characteristic of San Francisco’s geography is that it lies on the tip of a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Golden Gate strait, and the San Francisco Bay. There are over forty hills, causing variations in sky conditions and temperature throughout the city. The city’s climate is similar to coastal areas near the Mediterranean, as it is affected by the cool waters from the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay.
