Analysis Part 1: The political cartoon I picked was created by Joseph E. Baker an American artist. He was born in 1837 in Maine. He was an apprentice at first for John H. Buford lithography. Though after Buford death in 1970, Joseph Baker worked for Forbes & Company, where he made playbills and advertisement.

Throughout the history, different medias-(Movies, tv shows, novels, songs) tackle the topic of teenage society. Jerad Hess, the director of the film Napoleon Dynamite, used many satirical device such as Exaggeration, Parody, irony, to interpret the life of a teenager in Idaho . The representation of teenage society in Napoleon Dynamite express the ups and downs of teenage life and mock/ exaggerate the life of teenegers and other contemperoty problems and situations. The director's main objective is to exaggerate and to reveal the covel changes of the country through a point of view of a teenager and the impact of those changes in their life. The immigration of Latin Americans to America and from urban areas to more rural areas are portrayed through the character Pedro and his interactions with protagonist-Napoleon Dynamite and other characters.
My Amendment begins as a simple letter from a reader named Ken Byron to a writer of a Pennsylvania newspaper discussing his agreement with the writer about their disdain for Same-Sex Marriage and his desire that it be banned in the Constitution. Byron’s argument quickly goes from an expression of his own opinion to an absurd idea of banning Samish-Sex Marriage between an effeminate man and masculine woman. Not addressing the topic clearly can make this cartoon relevant for several years. One can be influenced by the government in a life changing way and some people hold their breath and wait for things to go to how they would prefer. The audience of this cartoon is adults interested in politics. Although the older community is a likely candidate, young adults pay attention to politics just as often. Whether they are associated with politics or stay up to date on the topic, this cartoon can capture their interest.

Lisa Simpson’s website, its creation and the ensuing reactions, raises several first amendment issues. The first issues focuses on the website itself, and subsequent suppression of the site. Lisa’s sight was shut down because of content and apparent community values which action raises serious free speech concerns. This leads into the picketing from the parents who argue that the website should not be visible to their children. With the website being shut down, a protest arises between Lisa and an anti-gay group who make many inflammatory remarks concerning the opposing side’s sexual orientation as well as the talks of burning an effigy of a person with the word “faggot” written across its chest.
There are multiple examples of satire in The Simpsons. One specific example focusing on various concepts of satire is in the episode “The Boy Who Knew Too Much.” In this episode, Bart skips school and is the only witness in a legal case against Freddy, Mayor Quimby's nephew. Bart is the only key to proving Freddy's innocence, but he would have to admit to skipping school. This episode mainly focuses on satirizing corruption in the legal system, exaggeration in the media, abuse of power by authority figures, and the education system.
The political cartoon Forcing Slavery Down the Throat of a Freesoiler was a lithograph published by Harper’s Weekly, a periodical that published columns, cartoons, and stories relating to current events (McCollister). John L. Magee, an artist and lithographer that created many satirical political illustrations created the cartoon in 1856 during a time when political tensions between the proslavery and antislavery movement was reaching its peak, a presidential election that could define the future of the expansion of slavery was at the political front, and the diving views between two halves of the country were setting the precedent for a civil war. Camenker brings up one march where politicians marched along side with the “Dyke March” where topless women walked to show their transformation into men. Throughout the article, Camenker uses many different examples of how homosexual couples are getting more benefits than heterosexual couples. The biggest example that the author used was adoption. The article states that homosexuals are given the first choice in adoption cases regardless of the birth parents requests. At the end of the article, he discusses how the media favors the growing popularity of gay couples.

The weeks have all been seeming the same in the past few years. On Sunday it's the rights of the people being attacked. On Monday the media is lying. On Tuesday it’s to be or not to be a gun owner. Wednesday it’s terrorist being bombed followed by panic of them bombing us.
It must anger an audience member when shown that just because of their orientation, person A and B may have a legally allowed life together, while they and their loved one cannot based off of something that is not a choice. Even recent presidential candidate Hillary Clinton states that “being gay is not a Western invention; it is a human reality. And protecting the human rights of all people, gay or straight, is not something that only Western governments do” (Clinton, 1) where it should be equal everywhere, being able to love who we want to love, but we as a country should model it in an effort for others in other parts of the world to follow in our steps. In his speech, Harvey Milk directly calls out his opponents on his stance and states that “No matter how hard you try, you can never erase those words from the Declaration of Independence. No matter how hard you try, you can never chip those words from the base of the Statue of Liberty” (Milk, 1) which also further uses repetition of “no matter how hard you try” (Milk, 1) to create a sense of pathos for the audience that despite the opponents attempt to stop the legalization of

Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is a classic satire on the Russian Revolution. Satire is a way to use humor, irony, or over exaggeration to expose or criticize people’s ideas, especially in politics.
