Savannah State University has been regarded as one of the best possible college experiences by many notable Savannah State alumni. With over 40 offered majors there are many options to meet the interest of a multitude of interest for eager students. Savannah State University is also the first public Historically Black University in the state of Georgia and, the first institution for higher education in the city of Savannah. Savannah State University’s mixture of historical impact and educational opportunity makes it Savannah’s premier university. The University provides multiple areas for students to study for academic success. The University provides free tutoring for student in Whiting hall in all subjects. In Herty hall there is free math tutoring from 3pm to 10pm on weekdays. The University even provides multiple computer labs throughout the campus to make access to computers and printing easy for all students. The presidents that have came and left have all succeeded in leaving Savannah State University better than they found it. Even today we can see examples of new building being constructed and opened for the improvement of student educational experiences. For example, Savannah state will open the new science and technology building on North Tompkins Road at 2 p.m. and, the new marine sciences building on Livingston avenue at 3:30 p.m. All of these virtues of improvement are self-evident in the actions of Savannah State University. All things considered no university can claim to be premier without notable alumni however, Savannah State University has successful alumni to spare. Alumni such as Alissa J. Johnson who served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer of the Executive Office of the President (Obama Administration). Including alumni such as Shannon Sharpe who went to become a National Football League hall of famer and is now a political activist. The list of notable alumni is long and diverse. Savannah State can provide the resources so that anyone can become a successful member of
