The scandal between Former President Bill Clinton and his intern Monica Lewinsky is one of the most well known scandals in United States history. This scandal that took place from 1995 to 1997 had at least 10 sexual encounters involving Clinton and Lewinsky. This series of encounters, along with other things led to Former President Clinton being impeached.

To do this, she was going to move to New York This was partially proven by the fact that Former President Clinton made a phone call to a friend of his in New York, telling him that he should give Monica Lewinsky a job. This alone is enough to make a person wonder what Lewinsky could testify that would be so worrisome to Former President Clinton. Later in this case, Former President Clinton was charged with obstruction of justice for lying under oath. In fact Former President Clinton even lied at least 5 times in the case. This is an offense that is punishable by fines or even prison. Linda Tripp also had some evidence against Former President Clinton that did not do him well. She had tapes of conversations that she had with Monica Lewinsky. Linda Tripp claims that she had no intentions of giving anyone the tapes, but when she was given the ultimatum to turn in the tapes or be prosecuted for tapping into her phone lines. These tapes gave a lot of information that Monica Lewinsky most definitely did not want exposed to the public. The tapes had secrets such as how Lewinsky did not view the scandal as just an affair, but an actual romantic relationship. The impeachment of Former President Clinton was difficult on the government as impeachment is a long process. Part of the process was a trial against FormerPresident Clinton. Along with a trial was a vote in the Senate. In this vote, two charges were brought up against him. The first of these charges was perjury and the second being obstruction of justice. The charge of perjury was voted by 55 as not guilty and by 45 as guilty. On the charge of obstruction of justice, the vote was right in the middle with 50 who voted guilty and 50 who voted not guilty. The majority of all the Guilty votes were by the republicans while the majority of the non-guilty votes were by the democrats. Since this vote was not enough to get him thrown out of office, Former President Clinton was acquitted of all charges in 1999.
