Sources of information come in various formats, especially through the internet. It is more easy to find sources that are not reliable than to find sources that are reliable. Reliable sources can come from websites that have a .org, .gov, or .edu domain. Domains like these are most likely to give accurate information compared to sources with a .com domain. That is not to say that .com sources are completely unreliable, but the reader should be more careful when getting information from domains like this. Articles written by scientists, doctors or any professional are geared toward an audience in that same field. This can be problematic for the average consumer because of many reasons. The diction in scholarly articles can oftentimes be difficult to follow as well as the experiment or research itself. Though it is done in steps, research is not necessarily going to be written in the steps exactly how it was performed nor will it be labeled in a scholarly article. These articles are also difficult to find if the reader is not part of a university or an organization because many of these articles are not accessible to the average person through the mainstream internet. Many databases have access to these articles, but only certain institutions have access to the databases, which creates a barrier for the average person to read scholarly articles. If somehow a consumer does come across one of these articles, either from school or from an open database, there will be some advantages to reading them. Scholarly articles are incredibly reliably because they are peer reviewed by a group of people who are knowledgeable in the content of the article.
