Is there a conflict between religion and science, or are both items compatible? This question is the main topic for the debate that is written about in the book Science and Religion, Are they Compatible, by Daniel C. Dennett and Alvin Plantiginga. Alvin Plantinga thoroughly debates the topic by covering the compatibility of Christianity and science. He continues his argument by stating the issue of naturalist and science harbor the conflict not the theism. Plantinga goes into detail how some science theories without the help of theism has conflict and could be considered falsifiable because of the contradictions they possess. The doctrines used to govern the behaviors of the church cannot be the only item looked at when you are comparing the two items. Christianity also uses the Bible as a guide to the religion. The problems present with Plantinga’s argument are in the Bible that all Christian branches use during the worship services and to guide their lives. In the first chapter of the Bible, it states in the beginning God made man in his image. If God created man in his image and gave the man rule over all of the animals on earth, how can the scientific theory of evolution and the religion of Christianity compatible? When evaluating if the two items can correspond together, a person must look at the religion and theory entirely. Alvin Plantinga only took the items correlated use in the debate. Although Plantinga did use solid research about both the scientific theory of evolution and the religion Christianity, he omitted important doctrines that most Christians use to guide their spiritual
