Why does an apple fall from a tree? Does the Earth revolve around the sun or the moon? Both of these were valid questions that people had, and were loosely answered before the Scientific Revolution changed our system of beliefs and our way of thinking. The Scientific Revolution during the mid-16th century through the 17th century was a time of deductive reasoning that incorporated challenging ideas about the environment, technology, and science. The relationship of these topics and our understanding of them were greatly changed after the Scientific Revolution.
There were several key causes that sparked the Scientific Revolution. Some of those causes including philosophers questioning previous theories, the collapse of older scientific paradigms, …show more content…

Many of these discoveries have still proven true today. Other discoveries that may not have proven true were the foundation for other scientists to challenge theories, test them, and publish more factual information. Notable scientists who made discoveries that are still relevant today include Nicholas Copernicus. He famously responsible for the heliocentric theory. He stated that the sun was the center of the universe, not the Earth (“Renaissance”). He also stated that Earth’s motions include, its relationship in the solar system, and its relationship with the moon (“Renaissance”). Galileo Galilei continued to build on the work of Nicholas Copernicus. Galilei discovered things such as characteristics of planets (including Jupiter’s moons and the phases of Venus), he stated the basic principal of relativity, and he demonstrated that descent time is independent of mass (“Renaissance”). Finally, Johannes Keppler was credited with creating the laws of planetary motion (“Renaissance”). Keppler work was a precursor for some work done by Sir Isaac Newton. Scientists and science research were so important during this time because new discoveries created natural competition among people to go out and observe, challenge, and experiment for themselves. The work of scientists influenced other scientists to join the …show more content…

Since, these three themes have never been separated. As an example, I grew up on a family farm that grows corn and soybeans. On that farm, we have precision technology that advises us on how much fertilizer to put on the crops in a way that is most profitable, efficient, and best for the environment. This is an integration of the environment, technology, and science. There is a lot of scientific research that is involved in creating algorithms that are used in our precision technology to advise us on how much fertilizer to apply. This in turn involves the environment because we are more efficiently using our resources which is more sustainable. After the Scientific Revolution, it seems that the three themes become more and more integrated with one another. As science advances, so does technology. The combination of science and technology helps us to become better stewards of the environment. Also the other type of environment, the learning environment is integrated into each one of these themes. The learning environment is becoming more conducive to advancement each day through increased competition, funding, and need for problem
