Self-Authorship has different aspects of our lives reflected. These include how and who we learn from at young ages to an adult. Some ways in which we learn are from our parents, grandparents, and teachers. In order to have a self-authored life we must set goals for our education and how we define success. Also, each person possess different strengths which can relate to the eight competencies taught at George Mason University. My strengths are includer, empathy, responsibility, context, and learning. The eight competencies are communication, critical thinking, group collaboration, global understanding, civic engagement, digital literacy, aesthetic awareness, and well-being. Due to the fact that I did not come from a rich family, it took some time to obtain assistance to get the education I have always wanted. Attending George Mason University allows me to obtain a degree to pursue a career I am passionate about. There are a few things I would like to learn from this class which are better communication skills, hands on learning, the ability to rain knowledge, how to become a successful student I hope attending this college will open my life up to new experiences.. Mason offers many hands on learning activities which can better your career versus just attending lecture and taking notes. I also would like Since I was eight years old, I knew I wanted to become an elementary teacher for several reasons. One of which is because I love the atmosphere of school and the role of the teacher. At such young ages children look to the teachers to grow and obtain a future. I myself being a teacher is being someone’s’ somebody. I would want to be that teacher whose students want to come to class everyday no matter what their circumstance. My grandmother has always been a big influence in my life and my backbone to where I stand
