I will be spending the 2016-17 academic year teaching Chemistry at James Irwin Charter High School. My responsibilities at James Irwin do not stop with teaching – I also manage the science department and am at the forefront of health and wellness efforts across all four James Irwin Charter campuses (not to mention all of the unwritten tasks of a teacher). In managing the science department, I collaborate in curriculum meetings, coordinate weekly lab inspections, support the success of my colleagues, and oversee all purchase orders. Working at James Irwin has taught me valuable workplace ediquette. The most practical example of that involves teamwork.
After visiting the Mission Hill area of Boston, it is easy to conclude that a family living in the area could mostly live off of local businesses for their basic needs. Once farmland, Mission Hill now includes hospitals, cheap housing for smaller families and college students, and plenty of local businesses for food. On average, families in the area are left over with $84.13 per week to spend on necessities. If budgeted right, this money could be spent on local businesses that fill the area instead of citizens going outside of Mission Hill to buy from larger corporations.

Collins Elementary is a branch of Alief Independent School District. I have been to many Alief schools and observed a very common pattern in all the schools in the district. They fallow the same requirements and have the same curriculum. I did notice that Collins elementary have a few assests that are unique to this school.

The County Prep High School mission statement truly expresses why I wish to attend this school. "We are a dynamic, diverse and compassionate learning community that encourages growth and embraces change through meaningful activities in a student centered environment." This explains that there will be a variety of culture and bright students who could encourage and help each other achieve greater goals. Additionally, after completely analyzing through all the program choices, I am ecstatic about joining this high school. For a multitude of reasons this high school appeals to me, varying from its magnitude of programs and clubs as well as its guidance set by teachers and peers.

In the first chapter of Brian Shultz’s Spectacular Things Happen along the Way, Shultz creates a curriculum where the students get to choose how and what they should learn. Shultz made the students figure out an issue in their community that they would like to improve, and the students decided that they want a new school facility. He lets the students decide how they should go about getting this new school facility and as a result he gives the students the opportunity to examine their cultural backgrounds and how they have experienced being born into that culture. Shultz helped create Project Citizen, an initiative to have students get a new school facility. Project citizen makes the students look at the individual problems with their school

Lone Star High School is a location where students can feel secure and have many opportunities to showcase their skills and leadership qualities. Our campus is built upon five figurative pillars; Integrity, Strength, Stewardship, Loyalty and Perseverance. These pillars are what make us the admirable school that we are today. I believe everyone of our students must have these five qualities in order to ensure success now and later on in the future. As a student I believe that for one to have integrity they must show signs of righteous ethical morals.
The many different aspects that make our program exceptional; performing and visual arts, service-learning at each grade level, a strong sense of
