Why did you join SGA? What do you want to take away from being a member?: I joined SGA because I needed something to orient myself with what was going on in the school. As an incoming freshman, my friends and I were looking for ways to become familiar with the new school environment we had entered. SGA then became a way that I could help my school and the students within it’s walls. I want to walk away from SGA after graduation with a feeling that I helped to improve and develop a sense of community within my school.

Why? Do you believe you possess any of those qualities? Why or why not? In a leader, I look for drive, integrity, patience, open-mindedness, persistence, and the ability to build communities. I look for these characteristics more than others because these qualities to me separate good leaders from those who just tell others what to do. Leaders with the drive to complete goals and tasks can convince others to do the same through their energy. Patient leaders listen to the struggles of their followers and work open-minded leaders care enough and are willing enough to see enough points of view to solve those problems. Persistence shows a leader that will work hard to get what they want in pursuit of their vision; and a leader that can build communities combines these characteristics to form lasting bonds with others in a way that makes everyone stronger. I see the majority of these qualities in myself. I believe patience, integrity, and open-mindedness are characteristics that makes someone not only a better leader, but a decent person. Persistence and drive are things that come with the task or goal at hand. I may not be driven about an english project, and therefore will not be very persistent, but with something involving my passion for Human Computer Interaction and Computer Science like the Social Media Coordinator position, I definite have those characteristics.
