College: A Bust or a Must Michelle Obama once said, “You have to stay in school. You have to. You have to go to college. You have to get your degree. Because that's the one thing people can't take away from you is your education. And it is worth your investment.” Like Michelle Obama said, your degree is the one thing that can never be taken from you, nor the knowledge you gained with it., so don't take that opportunity away from yourself. A college education is a valuable commodity in today's competitive employment market, allowing job seekers the ability to obtain gainful employment faster and often times earn more than individuals without a college education. A good quality college education is expensive but the upfront cost will pay off in the long run. Most well-paying jobs require a college education. However, there are many ways to help offset or lower the cost of a four-year college education. In an editorial, “An Early Start on College,” it explains what dual-enrollment classes are. Dual enrollment classes can prepare more students for college level work and save money. This program allows students to earn college credit while still in high school. If more students take advantage of dual credit options, they will have less out of pocket expenses, reducing and in some cases eliminating the need for many lower level college classes, saving time and money for students, families, and taxpayers. This money can be spent on other necessities like room and board or be invested for future purposes, like a master’s degree or even your doctorate. By pushing yourself in high school to take these classes, you will be better prepared for the
