The death penalty is a very controversial subject in today’s society. It has been argued many times over the past years whether it should or should not be legalized in the states. Many believe that it is hypocritical and should be banned everywhere; however, it should be legalized in all fifty states because it is morally correct, serves as a retribution, and could potentially save lives.
To begin with, it can be addressed that the use of the death penalty is believed to be morally correct. As humans, we are programmed to believe that people should be rewarded for good behavior and punished for bad behavior. Therefore, that is why the death penalty can and should be used in today's society as a form of punishment. Actions or crimes that happen are supposed to be treated by how bad they were. So somebody that murdered 15 people should not have the same consequence as somebody who robbed banks.
