Should guns be banned or should guns still be kept in America?This topic of banning guns has been a progressing debate yet the question still remains unanswered.Many people have probably heard of someone or knew someone that got injured or killed by a gun.These incidents happen every day from suicides to homicides.First, guns cost the lives of many people in America.Guns cost the lives of more than 30,000 people each year.If guns were banned, the number of deaths would reduce.Second, other populated countries with more gun control laws have lower suicide and homicide rates than the United States,which shows how having more gun control laws could affect the U.S.Finally, guns are rarely used in self defense when an individual is in a dangerous …show more content…

Lastly,gun are rarely used for self defense in a dangerous situation.Out of the 29,618,300 violent crimes that were committed between 2007 and 2011,only 235,7000 victims protected themselves with a gun.Between 2007 and 2011,84,495,500 property crimes that were committed only 103,000 people protected themselves with a gun.Thus,it is obvious that guns are unnecessary since they increase the number of crimes committed each year in America because even criminals own guns legally.According to the theguardian.com,in 2011,12,664 murders committed in the U.S.Out of 12,664,8,583 murders were committed by guns.According to the FBI Federal Bureau of Investigation,in 2012,the number of violent crimes increased by 0.7% and property crimes increased by 0.9%.On the other hand,banning guns infringes the right to self defense.According to the National Rifle Association,guns are used in self defense 2.5 million times a year.61% of men and 56% of women surveyed by Pew Research said that applying strict gun laws it would make it more difficult for people to protect themselves,their homes,and families.Nelson Lund,Professor at George Mason University School of Law,states,”The right to self defense and to the means of defending oneself is a basic natural right that grows out the right to life..”Yes,all individuals have the right to defend themselves but civilians with a gun are unlikely unable to stop crimes and are more likely to make a dangerous situation more dangerous.In 2002,a mass
