Gender Identity has been and still is a problem in our society right now, to the point where others can not accept the fact that people choose this life to please themselves; to be satisfied with their body, to be free to be who they want to be in the opposite sex they want to be considered. Many people think it’s a disorder the person may have but never looked into this issue. In fact The American Psychiatric Association, publisher of the DSM-5, states that "gender nonconformity is not in itself a mental disorder.
The critical element of gender dysphoria is the presence of clinically significant distress associated with the condition." There are many arguments with the gender identity problem, but there is one issue brought up by many that should be discussed and settled. LGBT sex education is currently not covered in many schools. Research has also posited that students often don’t find existing LGBT sex education programs to be effective. Teachers have differing views on the subject of homosexuality, and these personal opinions can impact LGBT sex education when it is implemented.
