Eliminating drugs has been a key focus point of police departments for a long time. It has become something that SWAT teams will do anything to bust, including breaking down doors. There is an argument between people who think no knock drug raids are necessary and those who believe they bring unnecessary consequences. Kevin Sack’s article, “Door-Busting Drug raids Leave a Trail of Blood” is exposing the flaws behind no-knock drug raids across the United States. Sack claims that they are not always necessary and are often approved without appropriate evidence that a raid is the best option.
“The occupational solidarity within policing contributes to a subculture that generally discourages officers from interfering with the interest of other officers, it also encourages officers to protect other officer and finally it promotes officer aggressiveness” (Reuss- Ianny 1983). In the movie only one officer was concern when this episode
Why should there be a way to hold them accountable for their actions? Currently, there is a movement to make all police wear body cameras while on duty. This is ridiculous! Police are the enforcers of the law.
In Alexander’s words, police officers can pull over anyone they want, and using the pretext of a common traffic stop, they use the opportunity to try to fish out any drugs, which is part of the reason why mass incarceration is such an issue in America, if you stop and frisk enough people, of course you will eventually find someone who is breaking the
In her book, The New Jim Crow Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, Michelle Alexander who was a civil rights lawyer and legal scholar, reveals many of America’s harsh truths regarding race within the criminal justice system. Though the Jim Crow laws have long been abolished, a new form has surfaced, a contemporary system of racial control through mass incarceration. In this book, mass incarceration not only refers to the criminal justice system, but also a bigger picture, which controls criminals both in and out of prison through laws, rules, policies and customs. The New Jim Crow that Alexander speaks of has redesigned the racial caste system, by putting millions of mainly blacks, as well as Hispanics and some whites, behind bars
Take a Stand: Police Officers Should Wear Body Cameras Police officers are portrayed as the protectors of the people, the men and women who fight to keep our communities safe, but that image is often blurred when there is a victim involved. In order to guarantee a more efficient justice system, many people turn to look for alternatives to help find answers to unknown questions when settling disputes between police officers and victims. Due to recent incidents of innocent lives lost, police officers should be required to wear body cameras on duty in order to ensure a decrease in misconceptions between the public and the police. By requiring officers to wear body cameras, public outrage can succumb, officers will be able to do their jobs better,
I have been on two cruises so far in my life. This has led to me having the opportunity to meet individuals from all over the country. One of the first things I would notice about a person is if they were from the north or the south. Usually, on the occasion someone would talk to me they recognized my southern dialect and that would make them see me as less intelligent. This same idea is exhibited by James Baldwin in his essay where he explains the importance of language and how it can easily affect the way you view someone.
It may seem a little invasive, but schools are permitted to use drug dogs to sniff out contraband during unannounced, random searches and it becomes a controversial problem for all. The use of drug-sniffing dogs in schools is permitted because students do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in the school and school search did not go against the Fourth Amendment, which is the right of people to be secure in their personal spaces houses and papers. While drug dogs are becoming more and more commonplace in our public schools and to maintaining a drug-dog program can cost district estimates $12,000 and $36,000 every year. Drug dog must go through a long period of time of training and drug dogs are not dangerous to people, but instead it protects people. Without reservation, we must know the history background, advantages, and disadvantages of having a drug dog searches.
If you don't know what the 4th Amendment is, it guards against unreasonable searches and seizures. If students are tested for drugs they may get discouraged about life and want to commit suicide, or they might not try as hard in their school work. Student athletes should not be tested for drugs because it takes money out of their education. Student athletes should not be tested for drugs because it takes money out of their education. They should not test them because it costs so much for a test and to test a couple hundred student athletes.
Thesis statement: Police should wear body cameras because playing body cameras could improve the public’s view of police by showing the human side, help to provide evidence when a person may not be able to, and it protects the officers and public both. Cameras Imagine there is a huge case going on where a police officer is coming under question on if dealt with a potential suspect in the correct way. Now think about the money being used to provide lawyers, a judge, a jury, etc., to handle the high profile case.
Katie Walls P3 11:00 Is It Safe? Should law enforcement officers be present in schools? This can be a controversial topic because of the recent situations that have happened. Some may argue School Resource Officers should not be placed in schools because, they implant the youth into the criminal justice system at a young age. Others may argue they should be placed in schools because they help keep the students safe.
I believe that high school athletes should be drug tested. Drug testing high school athletes has become a popular in school districts and is being considered in many more high schools. I think that random drug testing policies will minimize the use of drugs and alcohol, at least among most of the high school 's athletes. All athletes should be required to take a drug test. Performance enhancing drugs are restricted for athletes to use.

It is easy to learn about a subject from a book, but it is an entirely different matter to learn about a subject through real life experience. I hope to learn how to serve and protect while implementing the law correctly, especially in today’s world when the level of support for police officers is very low and the level of misconduct cases concerning the police are very high. It is not easy to know what to do in every situation, especially when some reactions are needed with very little or no time to think about. It is one thing to hear about a crime happening and the response that would be best to give, and another thing to need
When it comes to having and being able to maintain a strong moral code, front line patrol officers are the perfect example of what law enforcement requires. To ensure front line patrol officers maintain a strong moral code, they must be able to keep their integrity on and off duty. Officers should have this characteristic before they are hired and should be open for the police academy to repair and strengthen them. Law enforcement requires not only physical strength within the policing work field but also strength within one’s values and their ethical as well as moral beliefs. ‘’Values is the term given to those ideas, behaviors, and actions that are important to us.
