Should Prayer be Allowed in Public Schools? Having prayer in school is something that has been debated for a long time. You have the people who want prayer in public schools to be mandated. Then you have the people who believe that schools should not have to right to make it mandatory for students to pray. If you want to go to a school that practices religion then you should attend a religious school not a public school. Prayer should not be allowed in public schools. School should be about learning not religion. I do not wake up at 6:00 am so I can go to school to pray, I wake up so that I can go to school and get an education. If you want to pray in school, you should do it on your own time. Do not take time away from my limited learning time so that you can pray as a class. If prayer was allowed in public schools it could cause kids of different religions to be made fun of because of what they believe in. Many people can argue that school prayer should be allowed because they have freedom of religion and those who do not want to pray can leave the room while they pray. There are over 4,000 religions around the world, if the school practiced one religion to as a whole how could they choose one religion where nobody is being offended? They cannot, which is why religion in school is not a good option.
