I believe that education should be an influencing factor on our futures, but the fact that standardized testing such as Keystones are determining our futures- as to if were able to graduate or not, is wrong in so many levels. At Bethel Park High School, our 2017 graduating class had to pass the Algebra, Biology, and Literature Keystones for us to be able to graduate and move on to bigger and better things. I understand in a sense why these tests exist, but what i do not understand is why everyone is required to pass.
Some people are horrible test takers, it’s something they can’t necessarily control. Of course, they can help their test taking skills by studying more and finding the help they need - but even at that, some just cannot pass a test.
I think everyone could agree on having some sort of anxiety before any type of test, whether it is standardized or just a simple chapter test in a core class. Some people get severe forms of test anxiety that prohibit their learning abilities from showing through.

I agree on having to take a class in order to help refresh your memory of certain things on the test so that you can pass. Although, even that goes back to my point that some people just do not do good on tests, so how much more is a class going to help? Some students can’t take classes they want to take, classes that might help them decide what they want to do after high school - just because they are required to take that class. My sophomore year here at Bethel, the remediation class was an online course through Study Island. All we had to do was sign on and take a little quiz and then we got a grade in that class. It did not affect our schedule at school, but we still were getting the help we needed. Regardless, some people did not care to go on and do it - their grade reflected that and all it was hurting in the end was themselves, whether they realized that or not i’m not entirely
