Lord of the Flies is a book about a group of boys that are stranded on an island after a plane crash. They are the only survivors and there are no adults on the island with them. As a group, they will learn how to survive and create tribes and leadership roles. Not everything is perfect with the groups they create. Everything will fall out of order, chaos and death will be shown in the groups.

Although One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is banned in certain places due to its vulgar language and its explicit language, I truly believe that it shouldn’t be banned. Taking away the right to read a book because it’s seen as inappropriate is just such a terrible thing to do. When you read a book you enjoy, you’re able to imagine all the things that are going on as well as let you creative side out. I understand that this book may not be the most appropriate book for anybody younger than 13, but it should still be open. I get how people may think that little kids will get ideas from this book cause of the things it says, but in all honesty, would little kids really read this book?
Genre Lord of the Flies is a novel. At first I considered an adventure story, bit it is so much more than that. I would call it a mix between an adventure story and a psychological novel. It is one hell of an adventure to survive on the island, but the book has a much deeper meaning, one you are only able to grasp if you look at is as more than just an adventure story. The message about how everyone is basically naturally evil is seen in the way the children change the way they think.
The Lord of the Flies written by William Golding is filled with evil and unholy actions fulfilled out by young boys who are stuck on a isolated island. Many of the boys throw their past civilized lives away, and transform into complete savages. After some disagreeing between the young boys on who the tribe leader was. A war breaks out. And within hours surviving cruel mother nature turns into to their second concern, surviving each other turns into there first.
In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, a group of stranded boys survive on an island with no adults, soon their sense of morality falls apart and violence takes place. The loss of morality causes the boys to break the rules and become violent. Eventually, the boys become uncivilized and stop caring about their actions. They get to a point where they disregard logical thought and resort to violence without reason. As the story progresses, the absence of morality causes violence to reign among the boys.
Subject matter such as extreme anger, violence, and even death are typically associated with novels and movies about adults. Most people do not usually relate these things to young children, but the in the dystopian fiction novel Lord of the Flies, boys as young as six years old are exposed to all of this. Changes within the characters coupled with the presence of several key symbols show how separation from civilization can corrupt the minds of young children. From examining the characters and symbols in the novel Lord of the Flies, one can see that the author William Golding is showing the immense importance of civilization and how a lack of it can result in chaos and savagery. Civilization is proved to be of extreme importance in this novel, and the lack of it has a profound effect on the boys.
In the debate my reason topic was Should the Lord of the Flies be taught? My thesis was the Lord of the Flies of shouldn’t be taught. My reason statement was that the Lord of the flies shouldn’t be taught because of the language complexity and grammar in the book doesn’t connect to common core. The text evidence that I have is that “Whee-oh!” “Wacco!”

The pilot had died, but most of the boys survived and they are now stranded on the island. Once on the island, they realize it was uninhabitable and they were away from adult supervision. The schoolboys have to try to survive and make a civilized leadership but they can’t shy away from barbarism. On the island they believe there is a beast lurking around and causing them to go into a state of fear.

First If you let people have too much freedom will they abuse it to the best they can. Banneedbooksweek.org explains that Books like “Lord of the flies” and “where's Waldo” have been banned for some very stupid things. Where's Waldo was banned for side boob where the book was made to find things hard to find someone spotted the side of a girl's boob and decided to ban it even though most kids will have seen that if they go to the beach ever. Lord of the flies was banned because there was bullying which this book does have a frequency to it, but it can also be used as a show that bullying is wrong. Another book called slaughterhouse was banned for being sexually explicit and having excessive violence.
A good change for society may cause chaos. Throughout history we see many circumstances where good changes for society’s often cause certain downfalls. In the story Lord of the Flies, Ralph was desperate to relight the fire for the benefit of his followers. Ralph stated, “ Hasn't anyone got a sense? We've got to relight that fire…” (95).
Overall, The Lord of the Flies was a very graphic novel that sought to depict the dark side of human nature. Every aspect of the novel contributed to the overall theme. From the Golding’s decision to use teenage boys as the main characters because of their disposition to behave recklessly to his use of the pig’s head to represent the devil, the story is a very effective cautionary
Lord of the Flies is a story where its representation of childhood and adolescence shape the meaning of the work as a whole. The boys struggle with giving into their evil instincts. Most of them give in. Golding uses this novel to show that children are not naturally good. They are evil and without the constraints of society that savagery shines through.
