Fahrenheit 451 has an astonishingly accurate future depiction of a society in which everyone is too distracted by technology, so they ignore most of the world around them. The community members are not aware of nature or other human beings, and they never take time to actually think deeply about life and ideas in general. Many high school and middle school teach this book in curriculums nationwide, because the addiction to technology and hatred of books portrayed in the book is beginning to be prevalent in our society. This book also glorifies individuality by admiring a girl who is different from everyone else. In the past, many parents have decided to challenge this book due to the violence, the religious discrimination, the foul language, and the references to drinking and smoking.
An opposing writer may say that the author depicting the underage drinking may be an educational opportunity, to show the risks and dangers that underage drinking brings. That may be so, but not all readers have the same level of critical thinking skills or have the same guidance from a parent or guardian. Any gullible or impressionable individual could be persuaded to normalize underage drinking after such exposure, and make considerably negative life choices as a result. Many parents say that the Outsiders has too much violence. Also it has too much death and fights that teenagers don’t need to learn at school. The book The Outsiders is a bad influence on Junior high students. So therefor 7th graders should not read The Outsiders. The first reason that the outsiders should be ban because there is too much fights and people getting jumped in the book Outsiders.

The Outsiders Since books have been created there has been many books banned or challenged for whatever reason the reader found inappropriate or detrimental. Censors may say that it only teaches kids bad things and will give them the wrong idea. However, the “bad things” in the book can be used as examples of what not to do, so it turns into a good lesson for middle schoolers. And, the story has a good moral so no one should keep that from middle schoolers. After doing some serious research on YAL (Young Adult Literature) I can as surely evaluate the fact that The Outsiders by S.E Hinton complies to most of the requirements to an original novel of YAL from experiencing things for the first time to the unimportance of consequences in the heat of the moment.
In this book report I will talk about the book “The outsiders” written by S.E. Hinton, I will do a review of the story, the point of view, theme, symbols and my opinion about this book I really liked to read for the English class. The story is about a boy named Ponyboy who lived in a small town in Texas with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop were a gang war was taking place between two different social class people: The Socs and the Greasers. Ponyboy will learn the consequences bad acts can bring to your life in the middle of a gang war. The greasers were a middle class and not so social kind of people who liked to get in trouble and The other gang The Socs were a most of them a high class or middle-high class group of people who where they went they will always go in groups of like three or four people.

SE Hilton explores the effect of living in a place where a teenager can't even walk home by himself and where fear is the foremost emotion. Gang violence, shooting, stabbing, ignorance etc are examples of violence illustrated in the novel. I will explore the theme of violence through characters such as Johnny,Dally and Bob and analyse the emotional and physical damage caused by the violence in this novel.
We recently learned in Miss Russell’s Unified Arts class that one are considering banning some books from the King Philip Middle School Library. I think that one should not ban The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton because it contains inspirational themes, shows the negative effects of drugs and alcohol, and shows the importance of responsibility. To start off, The Outsiders has many motivational themes. The main theme of this book is to not judge people because of their appearance. At the end of The Outsiders, Ponyboy states, “Maybe people would understand then and wouldn’t be so quick to judge a boy by the amount of hair oil he wore,” (179).
