The International Baccalaureate Organisation is a global enterprise that provides education programs for children between the ages of 3 and 9 years. The organisation was founded in 1968. The headquarters of this Organisation is in Geneva, Switzerland. The IB curriculum is composed of two major aspects; the ways of knowing and the areas of knowledge. For a long time, the ways of knowing did not include faith. On the contrary, religious education systems were not included in the areas of knowledge until recently the two aspects were added to the curriculum. However, there have been a lot of controversial arguments on whether the two aspects of religious backgrounds should be included in the field of knowledge. Is faith a way of knowing? In the past, the areas of knowledge included mathematics, natural sciences, human ethics, and the arts among others. Religious knowledge systems were introduced recently into this group (Joseph 104). The religious systems provide answers to the meaning and the core purpose of life. There exist many religions in the world today. Human being belongs to the different religions that exist. The different religions have different beliefs and reflections on the human life. However, other people believe that the different religions do not serve a different creator because they worship one Superior being. These religious systems are major areas of knowledge to the people. This is because they provide information on the meaning and purpose of life on earth. They also provide information on how the people are supposed to coexist in the society (Joseph 215).
