Political crime is often the result of the desire to follow a perceived higher moral road about normal society and the laws that society follows (Hagen, 2013). Political crime can be divided into 2 sections crimes committed by the government and crimes against the government, both have may different parts or aspects to its definitions. Crimes by the government are defined as those the violate human rights and liberties afforded to us by the constitution (Hagen, 2013). Crimes against the government can included protest, terrorism and espionage among others (Hagen, 2013). Terrorism has been around for a long time at least since the terrorist reign of Maxmillien Robespierre in the late 1700’s in France (The History of Terrorism, 2016). In the last several decades it seems that it has become more common, but it also might be that our ability to get news and the rise of social media brings it to our minds more. People often trespass on private property (business or individual). Often when police respond and need to take action people resist, obstruct, and delay the officer from doing their job. This can lead to individuals (officers or the protesters) getting hurt. It can also cause innocent bystanders from getting help or protection from the police. Protest can be considered illegal gatherings which can be defined as when there are more than 3 people gathered in public and there is the fear that violence may happen (US Legal, 2016). There is a mob mentality that can unfortunately accompany protests. There can be a sense of fear and confusion when there are groups of people, mob mentality also can create the feeling that the rules are different or don’t exist when there is a group behaving a certain way (What is Mob Mentality, 2016). An individual standing on the street corner would typically stay out of the road, there are laws and safety issues concerning standing in the middle of the road. Mob mentality might cause people to think that it is ok to congregate in the middle of the road. Another issue about protests is that these days they become a feeding frenzy for the media, but the chaos that the protest could create might change the original purpose. For instance, let’s say a group is protesting bad school lunches and the protest gets out of control and a police car is vandalized and a protestor is hurt. What the media
