While both Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois made important advancements towards helping end segregation, DuBois’s approach was the better avenue towards racial uplift. DuBois’s belief that racial equality was too urgent to postpone was also the approach most aligning with the fundamental American ideals compared to Washington’s submission to segregation and idea of gradual “equality”. Washington was still played a significant role. He contributed in helping end segregation and was a significant civil rights activist.
