William Shakespeare, the name is synonymous with elegance and everlasting literacy legacy, whose beliefs and concept of love still resonate today. His plays encompass unparalleled poetic beauty and sophistication. The principles and messages of Shakespeare’s plays are still relevant in the contemporary society, expressing themes of love which conveys what it means to be human, something that never changes from century to century or country to country. Some find love and some don't, however either way, if you’re in love or know someone you love, you will be willing to sacrifice anything to be with those people. As Shakespeare has expressed, the course of true love never does run smooth because true love requires sacrifice. In order to be together, Romeo and Juliet were willing to give up their relationships with their families to be together. Before Juliet realises Romeo has been watching her, Juliet speaks to herself on the balcony saying,” O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I'll no longer be a Capulet,” imploring for him to give up his name. She believes that their love for each other transcends their family’s names. Furthermore, Romeo reveals himself stating,” I take thee at thy word: Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized; Henceforth I never will be Romeo”, highlighting that he is willing to sacrifice anything for her. This sacrifice of his name foreshadows their later ultimate sacrifice, their lives. As seen in relationships today, sacrificing money, time with friends, dealing with each other when one is in a bad mood and maybe even seeing the movie you didn't really want to see are just a few sacrifices both partners have to give up but is a testimony to your relationship and is the very definition of what it means to truly love another
