In 1590, Shakespeare started to write plays for the public to watch and enjoy. One of the the most popular plays he wrote was “Romeo and Juliet”. “Romeo and Juliet” takes place in the city of Verona where the families named Capulets and Montagues are always fighting. When Romeo, side of the Montagues, decides to go a party after he broke up with Rosaline, he fell in love with Juliet which is part of the Capulet family. Soon they get married leading to a tragedy. Another play Shakespeare wrote was “Othello” which was about a Moor named Othello who assigns a man named Michael Cassio as his lieutenant instead of one of his servants, Iago who was so jealous that he starts to tell lies throughout the play to reine Othello’s life. Both Shakespearean plays definitely has the same writing style. In both plays, Shakespeare used words like thou, thee, aught and aye. He uses these type of words with all of his writing. Another similarity between both plays is the mood. Both plays portray a suspenseful affect. For example, there is suspense throughout “Othello” when Iago tells lies to everyone, and we will never know when he will mess up. There is definitely suspense in “Romeo and Juliet” because you never know when who is going to be killed next, or when someone will find out the Romeo and Juliet are married. The last similarity in both plays is the theme Lies will never lead you in the right direction.
