For my book club, I read Malala Yousafzai’s autobiography novel, I am Malala. I would rate this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ because of all the emotions Malala has and every page I read the book becomes more interesting and thrilling. Every harsh, happy, or sad time Malala had experienced, I felt like I was in this situation as well. Part of the reason I rated the novel 5/5 is because I personally related to this book. I feel that I relate to this book because Malala and I have many similarities. For example, we are both competitive, we always want to get first place in everything we do. One example of a simile is when Malala explains how she loves to play with her brothers: “At home in Pakistan, the three of us ran like a pack of rabbits, in and out of the alleys around our house (13). This simile compares Malala and her brothers to a pack of rabbits using the word “like” and helps me understand that Malala and her brothers loved to play together and like to play running games. Another simile is when Malala says how different her parents are from all the other parents: “My father is like a falcon, the one who dared to fly where others would not go” (50). For example, I learned that children without the right to education will not have a successful life as adults. I saw that Malala received this right and therefore she won a nobel peace prize and now lives a successful life. I also learned that people without the freedom to move will not experience life as others do. Women in Pakistan were banned to go outside to public places and had to work for their family and always stay at home. Women there cannot go anywhere, see new places, new people, new religions and culture, and try new food. Every person deserves an education, food and shelter, equality, liberty, security, and expression of thought. No one can or should take one’s human rights
