Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is a movie about a group of young, preteen boys who get stranded on an island. It tells the story of the boys’ time on the island, and how their attempt at civilization was ultimately a disaster. It is wrong to say that the boys’ actions were the result of the human survival instinct. This is because they did many horrible things that they did not have to do to survive. For instance, the wild hunting chant and dance that Jack’s tribe did, that resulted in Simon’s death.
Simon is the only boy who doesn't appear to be afraid of the forest. It might be because he knows that he's safer alone than with the other boys. This quote represents fear, because it shows Simon doesn’t mind being alone in the forest, while the rest other boys are too scared to be alone. It also shows that Simon much rather prefers to be alone than with all the other boys, because of all the savagery that's been going on. Simon is different from the other boys, because he is both an independent and a very observant person.
A perfect society can never exist in our world today. Although may seem like one at the start, most societies that try to create a utopia, end up becoming a dystopia. The Stanley Milgram Experiment examines the barbaric nature of humans by testing whether or not ordinary people will listen to those who say they have more “authority” than them and by using small steps of evil to achieve the end goal. In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of boy’s land on an island with no parents or rules and end up creating a society. Golding takes these same ideas brought from the Stanley Milgram experiment and reciprocates them in his novel.
Is it right to leave behind what a person believes in order to join a safer group? In William Golding’s classic novel Lord of the Flies the characters Sam and Eric are very civil characters who makes the decision to “go with the flow” from the moment the plane crashes to the moment the boys are rescued. Throughout the book, these twins struggle to decide which of the two leaders to follow. In the end it seems that Samneric leave Ralph’s civil tribe and join Jack’s savage tribe. However, Samneric never change their beliefs.
This next quote that I picked from the book shows us how Simon knows they are changing from once little boys to savage. “Simon saw the picture of a human at once heroic and sick.” (6.140) A trait of Simon that has helped him out during survival is knowing when enough is enough, and keeping the little humanity he has left in himself to lead the others on the right path.
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, because of three defining moments, Jack changed the most out of all the boys. The first of the moments that changed him occurred in the beginning of the novel on page 23 when Ralph was chosen to be the chief of the boys instead of Jack. Jack was upset at not being chief, but he still took a position of leadership by making the choir boys the hunters and volunteering to be in charge of them. Ralph says “Jack’s in charge of the choir. They can be-what do you want them to be?’’
A character that has been constantly alienated in this story has been Piggy. His nickname, weight, asthma and poor eyesight are all factors in his separation from the boys’ society. For example, Golding writes “then, went on Piggy ‘that boy-I forget’. ‘You’re talking to much ’said Jack Merridew. ’ Shut up fatty’.

Throughout the story, there is bullying and fear. William Golding represents this through some of the main characters Piggy, Ralph, Simon and Jack.
“He’s a feral child. No mother, no father, no one to care for him or raise him or teach how to be human” (Rodman Phillbrick). Throughout the novel Lord of the Flies there are many signs of the group of boys changing in drastic ways. If a child is left alone in a forest without society to tell them how to act they will become more instinctual. Reasons to support this theory are the physical changes, emotional changes, and the behavioral changes.
“Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes.” This quote is said by Peter Drucker. The more effort leaders put in the more effort they are going to get out from the people they are leading. The leader might be dis-liked, but being liked isn’t in the job description. Being a leader might not be that hard, but just because they are a leader doesn’t mean they are good.
They chose a leader who calamitously failed. A leader who was favored by society. A leader who the stranded boys put their trust in. If only the boys ignored social standards, their situation could have been exceptionally different. William Golding’s, Lord of the Flies, reveals that leadership is not limited to those who are popular; other factors, aside from social status, should be considered, as demonstrated through the archetype of the characters, the author’s point of view, and the resolution of the story.
In the chapter titled “Gift for the Darkness” Simon hears the sound of the flies buzzing around the Lord of the Flies. The buzzing sound is what causes Simon to have hallucinations. These hallucinations leads to Simon hearing the Lord of the Flies talking to him. The Lord of the Flies tells Simon that evil is within all the boys.

In life, you will have a time where you must make a hard choice, one that could impact your life significantly. Once settling with the right decision you instantly get hit by regret and anxiety, questioning yourself if you choose the right decision or not. Emotions cause negative outcomes, affect people's lives. In the novel Lord Of The Flies, Roger had the decision to kill piggy. He has the chance to kill piggy, so he did.
In my opinion, a family is considered a whole or as a unit, and are supposed to stick together no matter what. If I were to implement a family prevention program for those participating in a methadone program I would include all of the following: • Empowerment, hope, mutual aid, recovery supports, and terms which are culturally respectful to those in treatment. For example, participants will be encouraged to provide mutual aid and empowerment towards one another during the prevention process. • In order to teach all clients how to deal with and handle relapse and relapses, situations in which one is put at risk for the return of using substances must be identified by clients.
