There are several notable transnational criminal organizations. The Sinaloa Cartel was founded and controlled by billionaire Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. This particular cartel stands out due to the overwhelming attention it has received television shows and the media. Often, in these movies, El Chapo is depicted as a hero to the people in Mexico. Such movies show him providing money, food, clothing and medical necessities for the Mexican citizens. Some people even described him as a Mexican version of “Robin Hood.” Despite El Chapo’s notorious involvement with drug trafficking, kidnapping, extortion, and murder, it is true that he provides resources for the people of his hometown of Sinaloa. The violence that El Chapo brought to his rival cartels for control of the drug routes to and from the United States has placed him on top as the number one violent drug lords. …show more content…

El Chapo and his gang are also known to threat government officials and law enforcement personnel. El Chapo is known to murder these government officials if they do not comply with his demands. The drug trafficking organizations like the Sinaloa Cartel not only use force to make sure that their business runs smoothly but according to an article written by June S. Beittel, Analyst in Latin American Affairs, for the Congressional Research Service on July 22, 2015, “Bribery and corruption help neutralize government action against the DTOs, ensure impunity, and facilitate smooth operations”. This plays a large role in their business because it gives them an upper hand on protecting their drug trafficking routes, kidnapping rings and execution plots.
