Joaquín Guzmán is more commonly known as “El Chapo.” He was a Mexican drug lord and in charge of the Sinaloa cartel, the world's most influential drug-trafficking organization. Most people only know about him because of the hit popular show on Netflix called: 'Narcos,' and because he successfully escaped from maximum-security prisons in his home country. His family’s poverty formed El Chapo's childhood, and his abusive father was caught up in the drug trade. By the time he had reached his teen years, Guzmán had been kicked out of his home and was basically forced to survive on his own.
